The Story of Holistica: Overcoming Obstacle II

Posted by Janine Ogg on October 27, 2009 at 11:38 AM

Obstacle#2  Working Alone

Working on your own can be incredibly lonely and isolating. It can be really hard to stay motivated and inspired without a team around you for encouragement and support. Whilst my family and friends are supportive, it is still incredibly difficult to stay motivated at times.

Whist working in Italy this year, I was reminded just how much I love to work as part of a team and subsequently, that I didn't want to go down this path without the support and energy of others along the way. I opened myself up to the idea of somebody else coming along to develop and grow Holistica's work.

Since then doors have opened and my friend and colleague Joanna Foster has taken up my invitation to become a part of Holistica's story. It is absolutely wonderful it is to be working with Jo again and we are both excited about the possibilities. We held our first planning workshop last month, 'Waving Our Magic Wands' to explore taking Holistica to the next level. Our current focus is on creating a healthy working relationship and then completing a series of workshops designed to move Holistica's work forward.

Welcome Jo, you bring great talent and skills to our team.

Watch this space to find our more about the exciting developments ahead.

Glad to receive news of you and Holistica! Was especially interested to read the post about a Vipassana meditation retreat, and your new partnership with Jo. I'm still "processing" & benefiting from our long-distance coaching sessions. Recently went to visit le "Hameau des Buis", the co-housing eco-village started by the daughter of Pierre Rabhi, Sophie Rabhi-Bouquet, in the Ardèche region of France = A very interesting and inspirational place being built (with straw-bale construction) around a Montessori school. Are you still in London? When will you return to NZ?
Warm regards, Dana

Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now. Keep it up!
And according to this article, I totally agree with your opinion, but only this time! :)

Hi Janine, Glad to hear from you. We've been out of touch too long! I appreciated receiving your New Year's greetings by SMS, but I don't thinnk I got your message via the blog. But I've been so occupied, things do escape me sometimes. Both Noe & Nico & their companions were here for the holidays, so it was a very festive time. I just returned from a 2 week trip to Mali, where I was recording video for a future exhibit (DOGON Now : Masks in Motion ) at the New York Museum for African Art . This summer we'll be doing a house swap with a woman at Nubanusit, a farm & co-housing community where some close friends have settled. Yes indeed, we have lots to catch up on. Glad to hear that things are going well with you. Best regards, Dana
